One end of the GCNA08 series pen type measuring head is connected to the iron core of a frictionless LVDT, generating a voltage output that is directly proportional to the position of the measuring axis. The use of LVDT for measuring axis displacement induction eliminates errors caused by friction or mechanical hysteresis in the sensor. The LVDT output signal can be connected to any standard signal processor and then transmitted to a metering display, digital reader, or computer data acquisition system.

The other end of the measuring shaft has internal threads and can accept tungsten carbon alloy probes to prevent wear and enhance reliability.
In ordinary applications, the measuring axis is completely pushed outward from the mechanical zero position of the measuring head by a spring with a force of about 70 grams. The entire bearing, measuring shaft, and LVDT are assembled inside an 8mm diameter stainless steel tubular housing.
The tail end of the measuring head is a flexible tensile tight polyurethane jacket cable that delivers the output of LVDT to the signal processor.

Each measuring head is equipped with a replaceable tail piece that can change the axial cable outlet to a radial cable outlet to reduce the overall installation length in space limited applications. The sealing of the measuring head meets the requirements of IEC IP-65.
